It’s a magical night of discovery, diversity and celebration.

Past award winner and singer-songwriter Chloe Kimes describes the annual Jammie Awards show as “a live mixer with a taste of every flavor of music going on in the area.”

“I think WYCE does a phenomenal job curating and showcasing the wide variety of music coming out of the scene,” said Kimes, who took home the 2024 award for listeners’ choice album of the year.

“It really captures the pulse of what’s happening in Michigan music and has something for everyone.”

For performers, award winners and music fans alike, the Jammie Awards “culminate a celebration of our local and regional music scene,” said Logan Duddles of Americana’s Roosevelt Diggs, who won the award for listeners’ choice artist of the year in February 2024.

“It’s a place to discover new talent and it recognizes the labor of love that goes into creating music. It’s a gathering that throws a spotlight on musicians who may never reach national stage but are creating incredible music right here in Michigan.”

Added band member and Grand Haven resident Jon Shears: “It’s so meaningful that WYCE puts in the effort to honor local art and it makes the Jammies a must-attend event. … As always, the performers we are not familiar with will make us stop and listen with intent.”

David Kirchgessner of ska’s Mustard Plug, which won the critics’ choice award for album of the year in 2024, called it the “perfect antidote to a cold winter night. Every year I’ve attended, I’ve been blown away by the amount of talent and discovered great new bands I never would have run across otherwise.”

Jacob Betts, frontman for past award winner The American Hotel System, echoed that sentiment.

“The Jammie Awards play a vital role in our region’s musical ecosystem by spotlighting some of the most promising regional talent, creating those magical moments where listeners discover their next favorite artist. It’s about building bridges between artists and audiences who might never have connected otherwise. … It’s these discoveries that make the night so magical.”
